I had an extra puff pastry sheet after making my Rose in Winter Apple Tarts, so I threw together these Cherry Turnovers. They were a hit, and so easy to make that I’ve done them again many times, using whatever fruit filling I have available (apples sprinkled with cinnamon sugar work really well too).
Guessipe
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed according to package instructions
- cherry pie filling
- 1 TBSP sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl.
Cut the puff pastry into 4 squares. Sprinkle each square with a little bit of cinnamon sugar.
Drop a couple spoonfuls of cherry pie filling onto each square.
Fold each square diagonally in half, then press the edges together. Sprinkle the tops with the remainder of the cinnamon sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 20 minutes.
