Chinese New Year Crafting

Crafting

In preparation for our Chinese New Year Cookbook Club (check out the event here), a few of us got together for a little crafting session. We made these paper lanterns with roosters to give away as party favors, in honor of The Year of the Rooster.

It was quite the production – cutting and folding strips of paper for the lanterns and stars, using our origami skills to make silver and gold roosters.

Snacking

Of course, no crafting session is complete without wine and snacks to nourish you while you work.

With a group of Cookbook Clubbers, the snacks are no joke. We had chocolate covered cherries, sliced fresh mango, Vietnamese spring rolls. And two cheese and charcuterie boards with 4 kinds of cheese, 3 dried fruits, 3 meats, 3 types of crackers, and fresh bread.

I made the Vietnamese spring rolls, with a peanut dipping sauce. Go here to see my Guessipe.
