There are a ton of banana bread recipes out there, but I’m not big on banana flavored things. So it took quite a bit of tinkering for me to hit on a banana bread guessipe that I actually crave and make regularly. The combo of white and brown sugar gives it extra depth of flavor, sour cream ensures it stays moist, and chocolate chips add texture and bittersweet bite to balance the sweetness of the banana.
Guessipe
- 1 stick butter, melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 1/2 cups overripe banana, mashed
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 1/3 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 + 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Beat the melted butter, sugar, and brown sugar together in a stand mixer until a paste forms.
Beat in the banana, sour cream, eggs, and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
Fold in 1/2 cup of the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into a greased and parchment-lined loaf pan. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top.
Bake at 325 degrees F until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (about 1 hour and 15 minutes).
Allow to cool completely before removing from pan.
