Cookbook Club – Thug Kitchen
The cookbook for April’s Cookbook Club was Thug Kitchen by Michelle Davis and Matt Holloway. I chose the Chocolate-Dipped Tangerines. Go to my Cookbook Club site to see what all the other thugs made. For now – my dish!
You can pretty much count on the fact that if you put fruit, chocolate, and sea salt together, I will be happy. I’m also a sucker for presentation, and chocolate-dipped things tend to present nicely. For something that tastes and looks good enough to bring to a party, these were wonderfully easy.
I peeled 5 tangerines and separated them into wedges.
Then I microwaved the chocolate chips in 25 second increments, stirring each time. Once they were melted, I mixed in coconut oil.
All that was left to do after that was dip each tangerine segment halfway into the chocolate and sprinkle with some sea salt (which adds a nice contrasting flavor and gives them some sparkle). Then I popped the chocolate-dipped tangerines into the fridge until it was time to go to the party.
That’s all there was to it! When I need a simple last-minute dessert for a party, I’ll be breaking this one out. I could see doing it with all different kinds of fruits.
