My friend’s mom visited her for a month and bought all the spices to cook Indian food, even though she already had all of them in her pantry. So lucky me – she gave me all the duplicates! I used them to make Keema Matar (ground meat with peas).
Guessipe
- 2 TBSP olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 head of garlic, minced
- 2 TBSP ginger, minced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 TBSP chili oil
- 2 TBSP kasuri methi
- 2 TBSP ground coriander
- 1 TBSP cumin
- 1 TBSP garam masala
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 package frozen peas
- salt and pepper to taste
Sauté the onion in olive oil over medium-high heat until it begins to brown.
Stir in the ground beef, garlic, ginger, cilantro, and chili oil. Continue to cook until the beef is well browned, pouring off the extra fat.
Stir in the kasuri methi, cumin, coriander, garam masala, turmeric, chili powder, and tomatoes. Turn the heat down to medium-low and cook until the spices become fragrant.
Stir in the peas and continue to cook until the peas are heated through. Salt and pepper to taste.
Serve over rice.
