I find myself drawn to lettuce wraps when I see them on a restaurant menu. But they’re also pretty easy to make at home, and people are so excited when I serve lettuce wraps. You can pre-assemble them, or just put out all the elements and let people build their own. Interactive dishes are always fun.
Guessipe
- olive oil for stir-frying
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 TBSP ginger, minced
- 1/2 red onion, minced
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 10 oz mushrooms, minced
- 4 oz water chestnuts, minced
- 3 TBSP hoisin sauce
- 1 TBSP peanut butter
- 1 TBSP honey
- 1 TBSP Thai sweet chili sauce
- 1 TBSP sesame oil
- 1 TBSP soy sauce
- 1 TBSP rice vinegar
- 1/4 tsp white pepper
- lettuce
- crispy onions
Stir fry the garlic, ginger, and onion over medium high heat for about a minute until fragrant.
Add the ground pork and continue to cook until the pork begins to brown.
Add the mushrooms, water chestnuts, hoisin, peanut butter, honey, sweet chili sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and white pepper. Stir fry until the mushrooms are cooked through.
Scoop the pork mixture into separated lettuce leaves of your choice – romaine, iceberg, or butter lettuce all work. Top with crispy onions to serve.
