The only time I’ve had Orange Chicken is in those Americanized Chinese restaurants you often find in mall food courts, but I have to admit there’s a time and place where “Chinese” fast food hits the spot. Occasionally I get that craving, and I’ve found it’s easy enough to make Orange Chicken sauce at home. You can fry your own chicken of course, but sometimes I just heat up some packaged fried chicken from the freezer – for when you really want that fast food feel 😉
Guessipe
- 1 TBSP corn starch
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup rice vinegar
- 1/8 cup hoisin sauce
- 1/8 cup oyster or mushroom sauce
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
Whisk the corn starch into the soy sauce.
Combine the sugar, orange juice, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, and red pepper flakes in a small pot over medium heat.
Whisk in the corn starch slurry and continue to stir until the sauce thickens. Pour over fried chicken pieces.
