I love Sundays during Fall, because they combine two of my favorite things – food and football. I had a package of corn tortillas that I needed to do something with. So for one football party, I decided to try my hand at homemade tortilla chips. I am normally the first person to say some things are just better fried, but I was shocked to find that these home-baked tortilla chips were better than store-bought and as good as what you get in most restaurants. Plus it’s fun to flavor them as you see fit.
Guessipe
- Corn tortillas
- Olive oil
- Chile lime seasoning
- Garlic powder
- Sea salt
- Cumin
Cut the tortillas into wedges. Brush both sides of each tortilla wedge with olive oil and place on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with seasoning. Bake at 350 degrees F for 7 minutes, flip the chips over and bake another 7 minutes.
I seasoned my tortilla chips three different ways, but feel free to experiment with your favorite flavors and go as heavy or light as you want on the seasoning (thus why this Guessipe has no measurements!).
Chile Lime Tortilla Chips
These I sprinkled with chile lime seasoning. You could also use chile powder and lime juice, but it’s just so easy to use the ready-made seasoning.
Garlic Sea Salt Tortilla Chips
I seasoned these with both garlic powder and sea salt.
Cumin Tortilla Chips
I used cumin to flavor these.
I’ve found it’s fun to bring multiple flavors of tortilla chips to a party and watch people eat them. Often they’ll try each flavor and then keep going round to try them again, debating with others which is their favorite and eventually saying they can’t decide!
