My friend went fishing and caught a 30 pound tuna, which we were lucky enough to reap the rewards of when he asked a group of us to come over and help him consume the gorgeous fish. Of course we were happy to oblige.
Tuna
The tuna was naturally the star of the show. This stunning sashimi was so good – it’s hard to beat insanely fresh tuna in its purest form.
We also had tuna poke – as good as the beachside shacks in Hawaii!
And some spicy tuna for your rolling pleasure.
Plus the crowning jewel… toro! The fatty belly of the tuna was like butter. Sighhhh 🙂
Sides
We also had some nice sides to accompany all that wonderful tuna. This colorful ramen salad.
The requisite seaweed salad.
And some yummy sushi rice with furikake.
Dessert
Our meals are never complete without dessert. While we didn’t have anything to fit with the tuna theme, we did enjoy these awesome butterscotch puddings.
I feel insanely lucky to have been able to partake in this phenomenal meal which in a restaurant could easily have cost upwards of $100 per person, but which we were able to share in a great home with awesome friends!
